It is a highly polished, AAA-grade fossil.  The surface is smooth to the touch, and you'll also discover a few natural areas for your fingers to get to know.   As you turn it in the light, you will see the flash of colour in the center, which also has some of the original earth from Morocco, which is embedded in the fossil's center.   The pattern on this particular fossil is just breathtaking! It's like wearing autumn around your neck as the patterns are very much similar to the shape of leaves and ferns in earthy, gorgeous colours.

Ammonites are extinct marine animals that are approximately 400 million years old.  The rich, deep colours are natural and around the center, you can see hints of the opal colours (Ammolite), which have been created over the centuries. These hints of colours are due to the micro-structure of aragonite that comes from the layers upon layers of thin platelets that make up the fossil.
