There's something magical about spotting a Blue Jay on a snowy winter morning. Against a landscape of white, its brilliant blue feathers seem to burst with colour, bringing life and energy to even the coldest day.
Inspired by those unforgettable moments, I hand painted this one of a kind pendant to celebrate one of Canada's most beautiful backyard birds.
Working in layers of soft sky blue and accented with sparkling snow whites, I created flowing patterns inspired by the Blue Jay's graceful wing feathers as they spread open in flight. The darker spaces throughout the design reflect the deep winter sky, allowing the vibrant blues to shine even brighter.
This pendant is my reminder that even in the middle of winter, nature always finds a way to surprise us with colour, beauty, and a little bit of joy. It has been signed on the back of the pendant.
Size and Materials:
Measuring 2 inches in diameter and 1/4 inch thick, your pendant is painted on a carefully prepared natural birch wood disc. The handcrafted bail is created from silver plated artisan wire.
How is it sealed?
Once the paint on your art pendant has fully dried, several coats of water-based varnish are applied to keep your artwork protected and vibrant for years to come.
How to wear it:
When ordering, choose the type of necklace you prefer wearing. The corded necklace with a clasp comes in a variety of lengths (or you can custom order your own size by sending a note with your order) and it has a clasp. Or you can pick a longer knotted cord that will slip over your head. Also, you can just order it without a necklace if you have your own to put it on.
Looking after your Pendant
Your pendant was hand-painted and finished with a protective coating before leaving my studio. To help preserve its vibrant colours, remove it before swimming, showering, or using household cleaners, and avoid prolonged exposure to water and direct sunlight.
When your pendant isn't being worn, store it in a dry place where it won't rub against other jewelry. If needed, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth.
Treat it with the same care you would any treasured piece of handmade art, and it will continue to brighten your days for years to come.
